You are what you share.

Social Media like Facebook and Twitter has been around for a few years and I say that it will stay for good. Maybe because we patronize it very much. Its like our second life. We post and share our ideas, thoughts, feelings and anything that we think is interesting to someone else.

But people sometimes don't know their limits. They use and abuse these mediums to either gain popularity or just being an a-hole. And with these kind of people around, users of these platform are misjudged and are attacked online.

And if it gets worse, they will be bullied resulting to suicide and unfortunate death. If this is social media, I won't let my children use it then.

To share my take on this concern, I decided to write this article to let us be responsible in using the said platforms to express themselves. And I have collated some of my ideas and thoughts about using social media responsibly.
  • Be responsible. Whatever you post and share in social media platforms, no one is responsible for your actions and consequences except you.
  • Be clear and direct. Don't be too emotional when you use social medias. When you interact with people here, you need to be emotionless. Be concise and direct to the point. Its useless to be elaborate.
  • Be polite. Don't ever use all capital letters when posting a message. People might think you're losing your mind and going crazy.
  • Don't make it your personal diary. You're not a celebrity to let anyone know about what you are doing, what you're eating and where you are. We. Don't. 'Effin. Care.
  • Don't reply if you don't know what you're saying. If you think you're opinion is good and want to share it, be mindful of its consequences. We don't want another victim of another stupidity.
  • Don't take the internet seriously. Its suppose to be fun and sharing of thoughts and ideas. If you want to be serious, emotional and hateful, don't use Facebook or Twitter to get attention. Or better yet, don't use the internet at all.
There are other annoying things that people do around the internet. I'm not sure if they are just asking for attention or just want to share their ideas. Sometimes, I can't help myself face-palming whenever I sense someone violating the list above.

There's nothing wrong with using social medias like Facebook and Twitter. Just be responsible and be smart in using them to your advantage. Not for your downfall, drama and stupidity.
